Please be aware of fraudsters and scammers

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

We at Aupair World try our best to make sure that only genuine users are registered on our site. This means only people who really exist and want to find a family or an aupair. However, we cannot avoid that scammers also use our website.

Warning Update for Au Pairs:

The emails of the so-called family "Kurt Darren" turned out to be scam. Several au pairs recently received emails in which they were asked to send money to a travel agency. Please do never send money to people you don´t know. Please bear in mind our general safety information!

Warning Update for Families:

The following scam method is used by criminal organisations. Their aim is to defraud the families of their money. The so-called au pair contacts the family always using a certain scheme:

  • the so-called au pair is usually too good to be true
  • the texts are noticeably long and too perfect (see example “Elina Frach”)
  • the au pair claims money, often as an advance payment (via Western Union or MoneyGram)

The following names have been recently used in connection with this scam method:

Please note that the names being used are only made-up identities. Of course, there may be au pairs with decent intentions who happen to have the same name. Our advice:

No matter what the au pair's name is – stop any communication as soon as money is claimed!

Please also consider our general safety information.

Important scam warning for Au Pairs and Families:

For your own safety, please keep in mind our Scam Warnings:

Never advance money to people you do not know!

  • Be cautious if someone asks you for money.
  • Never transfer any money via Western Union or MoneyGram to so-called Travel Agencies or lawyers!
  • Never advance money e. g. for travel expenses, flight tickets, etc. The au pair must pay for her/his own travel expenses. If you wish, you might reimburse some money later, when the au pair has already worked for you, but NEVER IN ADVANCE!

Be cautious if the offer of the family or the au pair is too good to be true !

  • Please inform yourself about the regular pocket money which is paid in the country of the host family.
  • If a family offers you more than the average salary in that country or a monthly salary PLUS weekly pocket money, etc., then please be cautious. There is something wrong there!

Please do not provide a bank account nunber to someone you don´t know !

Please be suspicious if you are contacted through Facebook or other social networks!

Many users (especially au pairs) have told us they were contacted by "host families" through Facebook. Those families pretended that they obtained the contact data from our website. However, in most cases, the so-called host families were scammer, so please be cautious.

+++++ New method of the Scammers +++++++

We have recently noticed that some emails are circulating, pretending to be the Aupair World Team. Please note:

We will NEVER give you the confirmation to transfer any money to any au pair. If you receive such an email, please be aware that this is SCAM. Please have a look at the email adress. If you have any doubt, please don't hesitate to contact us by email support@aupair-world.net or through our telephone number.

This page is to be updated regularly. We will inform you constantly if there are any new deceits, so please have a look at this page regularly and stay alert ...
